QFD Success builds character, failure reveals it Dave Checkett
Essential question of the day , if A =T and C = G and there is 29 percent cytosine in cell, what percentage of adenine in this dna sequence
Today’s learning objective Students who demonstrate understanding can: HS-LS1 Use a model to illustrate the role of cellular division (mitosis) and differentiation in producing and maintaining complex organisms.

1) Project guidelines
Students will construct a model of mitosis and meiosis using paper plates , a pen , and some colored pipe cleaners. Students will demonstrate this knowledge by taking pictures of each stage and placing them into a PowerPoint presentation that includes a description of the main areas of change within each phase.
Students must also include a 1-2 slide summary comparing the similarities and differences in haploid and diploid cell development
Day one – all pictures should be developed and finished
Day two – pictures should be placed into PowerPoint and begin on interpreting each stage with a description of events
Day 3 presentations should be completed including the analysis segment differentiating between both stages as they apply to both haploid and diploid chromosomes
Day 4/5 presentation in front of class 200 point total
*** honors students must also include additional slides that include examples of genetic choices that occur in fetal development and their opinion on the ramifications of genetic engineering with humans
