Week 37 body systems and dissection

June 2 2014
QFD : As we grow up, we realize it becomes less important to have more friends and more important to have real ones.
?fd : name 5 of the human body systems
Today’s learning objective :students will present their findings oh HIV and aids ( day 2 of 2)
June 3 2014 my cat is 21yr old today 🙂
QFD : Never do something permanently foolish just because you are temporarily upset.
?fd : which is the most important body system and why? Justify your answer
Today’s learning objective : students will know and be able to create a concept map on the order of importance among the 11 body systems

June 4 2014
QFD : Love and appreciate your parents. We are often so busy growing up, we forget they are also growing old.
?fd : do you remember the safety rules , name 3 for today’s lab
Today’s learning objective : students will know and be able to create a concept map on the order of importance among the 11 body systems
1) systems and final project and presentations
Final Presentation 500 points
Body systems and adaptations
Students will investigate one of the 11 body systems and create a PowerPoint with videos from dissections, a poster with pictures in groups of 4
1)Presenter/info gatherer – student will be in charge of gathering and printing information for group poster and recording the dissection. Students will find 1 picture of a human, frog and rat organs system that was assigned Student will upload these pictures and videos to their google doc account and share with all members in group. Responsible for the presentation of both the poster and power point on Finals day
) PowerPoint , 15 slides and a video ( short) on one of the 11 body systems. Students will reveal how the system functions, the major organs involved, how the human system compares to a frog or rat, and adaptations made to systems by evolution of the species ( both frog/rat and human
Slide 1 intro names period number group members Slides 2-3 describe the function of the organ system for both the human and a rat or frog Slides 4-5 describe the major organs of the body system Slides 6-7 pictures of both human and frog/rat organ systems slides 8-9 comparative anatomy- compare the frog/rat with a humans organs system ( the system you were assigned) Slides 10 (video –explain where the major organs or 4 major muscles/bones are located in the frog/rat during the dissections 15-30 seconds)Slides 11-12 major changes in organ system over time (millions of years) Slides 13-15 Adaptations of the body system over time and diseases/infections/malfunctions to the system
3) Poster – poster will include pictures of the major organs and pictures of the frog/rat systems that correlate with human ( 1 frog, 1 rat, 1 human). Attached will be a one page paper typed dbl spaces on cell structures of the systems and how the system operates efficiently to ensure survival of the organism. You will be analyzing and including the cell to overall organism ( cell of your system, tissue ,organs (major) and organ systems ( what are the systems that work together with the system you were assigned)- Organism
4) Leader – ensures everything gets done and will accomplish any task that others are absent for or does not do. Add 35 points extra credit for this job
Leader will also write a one page paper typed 2bl spaced about the history of the specific body system and how it has evolved over time and compare it to the specimen dissected

?fd : do you remember how to clean up your mess?
Today’s learning objective : students will use the proper procedures and respect for specimens to dissect and analyze the body systems of a rat and a frog
1) Day 1 of 2 dissection and body system lab

June 6 2014
QFD : You can’t start the next chapter of your life if you keep re-reading your last one.
?fd : what are the main differences in body systems between the frog and rat? What classmate in 3rd period will be buying the class a subway after the heat lose the next game ?
Today’s learning objective :students will use the proper procedures and respect for specimens to dissect and analyze the body systems of a rat and a frog
